Every wall deserves a story

Chitraghar — literally, "the house of pictures" — began as a small framing workshop in Sasaram, Rohtas, Bihar. What started with one artisan and a handful of watercolours is today a family of painters, printmakers and frame-makers who believe every Indian home deserves original, beautiful art.
Every artwork you see here is printed with archival, fade-resistant inks on textured art paper, then mounted and framed by hand. Our frames are finished with traditional gold-leaf techniques passed down through three generations.
From the wetlands of the sarus crane to the lanes of a rain-washed city, our collections celebrate the colours of India. We ship across the country and package every frame with obsessive care, because each piece is printed and framed to order for the wall it is going to.
